Tuition Fee HKD42,100 per academic year Alternative Chinese Students meeting specified circumstances set out by the Education Bureau may use an alternative Chinese qualification (i.e. Grade E or above in a GCSE/IGCSE/ GCE Chinese Language subject) or an HKDSE Other Language Subject (Grade E or above) to satisfy the University’s Chinese Language requirement. The specified circumstances are: (a) Students who have learnt Chinese Language for less than 6 years while receiving primary and secondary education; or (b) Students who have learnt Chinese Language for 6 years or more in schools, but have been taught an adapted and simpler Chinese Language curriculum not normally applicable to the majority of students in our local schools. The University ranks applicants primarily based on their HKDSE results on the best 5 or 6 subjects. In looking at the overall profile of a student, the following factors may result in an upward adjustment on the applicant’s position in the priority list: › Performance in extra subjects (in the form of a bonus score or as a tie-breaker); › Band (as an indicator of interest); › Other Experiences and Achievements (mainly for Band A applicants); › Student’s 500-word personal statement (mainly for Band A applicants); › School Reference Report (personal and general abilities); › Interview performance 4.
