Over the years, GEO has taken the surrounding environment into account so that the engineering works look as natural as possible and through using bio-engineering techniques, landslide scars are restored contributing to safety, sustainability, and aesthetics. Beyond hardware, developing a sophisticated rainfall-based early warning system is also critical so that the government can be prepared for emergency response capacity, as well as to improve community resilience through public education (see Chapter 5).
